Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art that focuses on grappling and ground fighting. The practitioner uses superior technique and leverage to control positioning, then applies joint locks or chokeholds to achieve victory over an opponent. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu first achieved recognition as the world's preeminent grappling art when Royce Gracie won three of the first four Ultimate Fighting Championships despite being the smallest competitor in the tournaments. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu quickly proved so successful in mixed martial arts competition that practically all elite competitors now incorporate BJJ into their training. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitors also routinely dominate both gi and no-gi grappling tournaments around the world.

But you don't have to be an elite sport fighter to benefit from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training. Throughout the history of BJJ, the Gracie family and their successors have taught Brazilian Jiu Jitsu primarily for self-defense purposes.

Haganah/F.I.G.H.T.
Haganah is the Hebrew word for "defense." It is also a complete combative methodology based on a combination of Israeli martial arts and military tactics, including Krav Maga, Hisardut, KAPAP and LOTAR. F.I.G.H.T. stands for "Fierce Israeli Guerrilla Hand-to-Hand Tactics." The F.I.G.H.T program encompasses the hand-to-hand, empty-hand vs. knife, empty-hand vs. gun, and ground survival components of Haganah. The remaining components involve tactical knife fighting and combat shooting. Haganah is the world's only martial art that incorporates all types of combat.

Benefits of Reality Based Training

It's difficult to overstate the value of being able to defend yourself and your loved ones in today's world. The greater confidence you will possess based on your enhanced skill set will be reflected in how you carry yourself, making you not only more capable of fighting off attackers, but less likely to be attacked in the first place. However, the benefits of martial arts training extend far beyond superior self-defense skills:

  • Improved coordination, flexibility, endurance, balance, speed, strength, and overall fitness.
  • Weight loss and a leaner, more toned physique.
  • An enhanced ability to set and reach specific goals and objectives.
  • Greater adaptability to changing circumstances.
  • Increased confidence, poise, self-respect, and discipline.
  • Reduced anxiety and diminished stress levels.
  • Sharpened focus and concentration in all endeavors.

The lessons you learn in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Haganah classes at American Fight Club can be applied to all aspects of your life.
